Mersiha Gadzo is a multimedia journalist currently based in the besieged Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank. She has experience in print, television, radio and online journalism with work featured in publications worldwide.

Mersiha has worked for Toronto’s CBC News Network and CTV. Her articles and videos have appeared in Al Jazeera English, Al Jazeera America, Al Jazeera Balkans, AJ+, CBC, Canadian Dimension, Deutsche Welle, Middle East Eye and Mondoweiss. She has reported from Canada, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Turkey, the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Israel. As a researcher she worked on a Canadian documentary about women combatants in Pakistan’s military. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a B.A. (Hons) specialization in journalism and major in French. She speaks English, French, Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian fluently.

Their grandparents were first refugees when they escaped to Syria from Palestine in 1948. Now these young Syrian-born Palestinians are uprooted once more. Here they walk from Šid, Serbia towards the border of Tovarnik, Croatia in search of a better life in Europe. 08.10.2015.
